Where are you located?

I currently am tutoring in the
greater west Los Angeles area. Please contact
me to check my geographical availability, which typically
depends on the day of the week.
How do I get
started?

I begin every tutoring relationship with a free hour long
introductory session. The purpose of this session is to get to know
you and your student and to assess the unique challenges and
difficulties faced by that particular student. To schedule a free
intro session, please contact me.
How much do you charge?

My hourly rates depend on several
factors, including what service we are providing (for instance
academic vs. test prep tutoring), grade level, etc. Please
contact me to discuss price and billing
details.
Do I need to sign a contract for a set number
of sessions?

When you sign up for tutoring,
you purchase from me a balance of hours in increments of five, which
you may always check by logging in to the website resource center. A
purchase of 10 hours will attain you an 11th hour for free.
What time are you
available?

I try to make myself available as
possible during after school hours on weekdays, however my available
hours tend to fill up almost immediately with the start of the
school year. Please contact me for
details.
How many times per week do you
see a student?

This totally depends on the needs
of the student. Some students can benefit from only a single hour
per week, whereas other students require a greater number of hours.
Additionally, some students receive tutoring in multiple subject
areas. I can estimate that an average amount of time for a single
subject is 2 to 3 hours per week.
Do you use your own materials for student curricula?

I primarily work off of student-provided texts and
materials. While I do have plenty of educational materials that I
can and sometimes do use, I find it to be more beneficial to stay as
much on track with what the student is doing in the classroom as
possible.
Do you tutor adults?

Yes.
While I tend to focus on high school and college students, I have
tutored adults before in various subjects with success.
Do you teach classes?

Not at this time, however I do
plan on developing a small group classroom style tutoring program in
the very near future.
Do you only tutor school
subjects, or do you do prep for the SAT, ACT, etcetera?

I have significant experience
tutoring both school subjects (especially math) and test prep
subjects (especially SAT, ACT, GRE, SSAT, and ISEE).
I've already used other tutoring
services and I’ve been less than satisfied. Why should I try The Ivy
Tutors?

I have a great deal of experience
tutoring, I’ve started and managed a successful tutoring company in
a competitive environment, I have an undergraduate double-major from
an Ivy League institution, a masters degree from a top 50 school,
and I’m only 26 so I’m very good at relating to high school students
in particular. But don’t take my word
for it…
How do you monitor a student’s
progress?

I type in a journal for every single session for
every single student. These journals are accessible to clients on
our website’s resource center simply by logging in. In this way,
both I and my clients are able to easily keep track of a student’s
progress.
Do you base your tutoring methods
on scientific research on education?

I have studied many methods of
pedagogy and I keep as current as possible with the latest
educational research, and I have been a member of the American
Counseling Association for several years.
